Flu Season – School Season

Cough…Sneeze..Cough….Yikes! So last weekend my 3 year old comes down with a fever, followed by a cough and running nose. Welcome to flu season and Back to school germs!

I don’t really “get it”. Why do parents bring their kids to school when they are obviously sick and can get other kids sick? It’s not just school either, it can be playgrounds, church or any public place. Seriously! It’s not good for the kids to be out and getting more exhausted whilst trying to fight a cold. It gets other kids sick, teachers and then their families back at home. There should be a fine imposed for any parent who brings a sick kid to school. Just think about the repercussions. Think about the loss of work time for the parents it in turn gets sick, the teacher who has to take time off and then the cost of the substitute and more!

Yes, you guessed it! I am fighting of a cold now and am not to happy about it. Stuffy head, chest, cough… great! I won’t stop working, but it sure makes it tough. And forget my softball game last night, tennis today or any real weekend now. As for my daughter, she is now recovering after 3 days of 103 fever and my wife, she is in the middle of it and is miserable! I think I got ahead of it a bit, so I am hoping it runs its course by tomorrow but only time will tell.

I think I am going to wire my daughter with a mini camera and get my buddy Dan Dubno to line her school clothes with a germ detection device that activates the camera when any flu germs are detected. Then I can get a picture or video of the little culprit and track down the parents. Or perhaps have it “tweet” to “Foursquare” and mark the locations they travel to and warn all in the area..a practical use of all this social media technology!!

Whoa! I think I just got a fever and am delirious…..time for more water and sleep…..and a Hot Fudge Sundae for lunch!

  1. Well, you have a point on that, parents should not take their kids in school or any public places since it’s not good for them and for those who might be infected of the virus. I literally laugh at the last paragraph and I think it’s kind of sarcastic.

  2. I hate flu season, I mean sometimes even though you know you are protected you still can get it and once one of your family member will get it then not be surprise and expect that all of you will experience it also.

  3. Flu! Flu! Flu! Flu season! I hate it! Well I guess everybody hates it except the flu ha ha just kidding. Maybe a little bit of preparation always must be implemented to maybe avoid the flu but it still very hard because air carries it I guess.

  4. Ohh this was many months ago at some countries and I think it is because of the weather and maybe a season winter have more of this flu. I want to answer your question “Why do parents bring their kids to school when they are obviously sick and can get other kids sick?”, it’s maybe because they don’t have time to take care or to handle their kids because they have work or maybe they are not still aware that their kids have flu.

  5. Cough and colds are really messy and really disgusting and you have to really get away with those things especially when it’s on its season because in my opinion I think it heals and gets away in you longer than the on the normal days and days that are not on the season. Colds and coughs should always be examined in our health especially to students since it can really affect their studies.

  6. I like this plan of protecting your children “think I am going to wire my daughter with a mini camera and get my buddy Dan Dubno to line her school clothes with a germ detection device that activates the camera when any flu germs are detected.”, this is quite new to me since I am not really updated for such just like this kind of technology and I think this is a good technology and surely be helpful to us and our children and others that are concerned.

  7. Is this for real? “I think I am going to wire my daughter with a mini camera and get my buddy Dan Dubno to line her school clothes”, this will sure take time and much of a large amount of money. I wonder if that is sarcasm you mean ha ha but if it’s really what you will do then it will really be a great idea but a hustle one.

  8. That is the season that all of us hate. No one of us loves flu and maybe those only who wants to skip their classes but anyway here is a little definition for flu “Short for influenza. The flu is caused by viruses that infect the respiratory tract which are divided into three types, designated A, B, and C. “, flu is such a very disgusting thing and should always be avoided since some of us will have a hard time to heal their flu and it depends on our immune system on how they fight the bacteria of the flu.

  9. Flue season is a yikes season in all of the places in the world. In my place we really always seriously preventing flu to come to us since if one person will have flu it has a large tendency that it can harm another people and then many will get experience then the flu. That’s a cool idea of yours and though it’s kind of funny but the fact that you are planning to do something to it is really good.

  10. Yikes ! I remembered the last time I experienced this one “Yes, you guessed it! I am fighting of a cold now and am not to happy about it. Stuffy head, chest, cough, it’s a little bit messy and disgusting feeling I have remembered on it. I am right now always trying to avoid things just like that since I am a person who is really annoyed to feel sick.

  11. School flu season is not in my school now but last year it went out that way also. I am always preventing myself from going near to the source. I know they will get well so I will just go to them when they are fully recovered. I guess we should really take time to study well on how to prevent it because it is hard to prevent it.

  12. That is one of the hard part on a school season and no one can really control that because it’s somewhat like an epidemia when happens since that kind of bacteria spreads and really spreads faster and that ‘s why I always take vitamins C and multi-vitamins for just a precaution a safety precaution to maybe prevent me from having the bacteria which can stop me from doing my full best in doing works in school.

  13. You really have said what some of us are trying to say “Think about the loss of work time for the parents it in turn gets sick, the teacher who has to take time off and then the cost of the substitute and more!”, it really get much of our time and we should really prevent and avoid getting it because it’s too risky to have such kind of sickness.
