Granger Whitelaw: Rain Drops
I awoke this morning to the sound of pouring rain on my roof and the wind pushing the trees. I love it when it rains. I love the feeling of rain drops on my head and face, I love that is cleans everything, I love that it reminds me of my childhood…Why is that? Does it make you feel that way to? It also makes me think of God, the 40 day flood and for some reason, peace…. it is a calming feeling for the spirit.
The first song that comes to my mind whenever it rains is “Just the two of us, by Bill Withers & Grover Washington Jr.” Why? I guess one of the lines, ” I hear the crystal raindrops fall on the window down the hall and it becomes the morning dew”. I used to sing this song when I was 13 in Junior High when my friend Broderick introduced me to it in choir (yes, I sang in choir for years). I of course think of “rain drops keep falling on your head” and “singin in the rain” as well, both iconic songs, and if you have not listened to them in a while, just click the links and enjoy.
So today it is going to rain all day. Me? I’m going to take my 3 year old daughter outside, sing in the rain, swim in the pool, jump in puddles and thank God for every minute of it. Then I think I will take the girls to a movie and eat popcorn!
Next time it rains on you, try this out, it makes for a wonderful time!
