Who’s Got Your Back? A phycho-social theory

o I was having dinner Friday night with my Dad and his partner Liz and talking about various things when the focus of the conversation fell into Social Media or specifically FACEBOOK as it so often does at dinner tables all across America these days. The interesting thing is it brought up the issues of Privacy, or how Liz feels about Privacy, how I do and how Dad does. And how do each view Social networks and community? You see, Dad had just put up a Facebook page a few months ago and then he added LinkedIn since he had received a number of requests to join from old friends. So the story begins; Continue reading

Thankfully You!

This week I had trouble deciding what to write in my weekly blog so I asked my Facebook friends for ideas. The overall resounding response was, “write about what you are thankful for”. Of course – its Thanksgiving week – what was I thinking :>)

So let me give this a try – in a very honest way – perhaps not the “PC” way. Continue reading

Birthday Surprise

Today is my birthday and what a great surprise! One of my best friends flew into town for the weekend to celebrate “45” with me. I can’t think of anything better than seeing an old friend on your birthday and just hanging out, eating good food, watching football and catching up. Too bad for Tim & Joyce that it decided to rain 6 inches over the past two days, but tomorrow looks promising for some sunshine and sightseeing while I go back to work! Continue reading

Granger Whitelaw, My Weekly Thoughts: Rain Drops

 Granger Whitelaw: Rain Drops

I awoke this morning to the sound of pouring rain on my roof and the wind pushing the trees. I love it when it rains. I love the feeling of rain drops on my head and face, I love that is cleans everything, I love that it reminds me of my childhood…Why is that? Does it make you feel that way to? It also makes me think of God, the 40 day flood and for some reason, peace…. it is a calming feeling for the spirit. Continue reading

Granger Whitelaw, My Weekly Thoughts: Home!

Granger Whitelaw: Home!

Finally – a week at home!

As fun as it is to travel and see old friends, meet new ones and see great places, there really is no place like home (Dorothy said it best). Continue reading

Granger Whitelaw: Los Angeles – or “LA BABY” as some of my friends say!

Granger Whitelaw: LA Baby

Back in LA for the week and its always interesting. Meetings with Studios & Labels, Hollywood types and some old friends as well. I must say, I HATE the LA traffic, but I do love Rodeo drive, Santa Monica and some of the other cool “scenes” here. I had the good fortune of watching a old High School friend of mine play drums last night at a “hip dive” in West Hollywood, CANTORS KIBITZ ROOM, next to Canters Deli. I mean, the DOORS played here and ZAPPA on Tuesdays in the past…SO if you ever want to watch some of the greatest Studio musicians in the world today just JAM for 3 hours on a Tuesday night, then go here, it will be a wonderful Jewel of a memory. My buddy, Matt Tecu playing the skins, just back from touring Europe and Canada for months and Monty on Vocals….with 6 other amazing guys…WOW! What a night! Continue reading

Granger Whitelaw: Tumbler and Social Media

Social Media – wow. I was in a meeting this week in New York and an investment banker said to me ” I work primarily on Social Network Deals”. I said ” really, is that big these days, as we all proceeded to laugh…Ya, Kind of. $100 Billion for Facebook? Really…… And Groupon turned down $7 Billion, and now I think it has lost like 50% of their renewals since August for the month of September…. Continue reading

Granger Whitelaw: New York – New York

The city so nice they named it twice! Well, I must agree, but they could have given it three!

I always love being in the city. The energy is all around, its infectious and its pure. There are certain times of year that it is even more special, I think this is one of those times….just after labor day and a week or so before it “snaps” a bit towards fall. Still warm enough for skirts and shorts during the day and into early evening and crisp air at night. Continue reading
